By saying this, Crawford reduces the greatness of his best win which was against Spence himself.
When in comes to being undisputed, the greatness lies more heavily in defending it. To elaborate, Haney defeated Kambosos to become undisputed in one swoop but that does not make him as great as Joe Louis, Ali, or Holyfield. It’s about reigning. The last boxer to defend and constantly fight for his titles has been Canelo.
Bottom line, Crawford did great by beating the greats that are Spence and Porter. And if he defeats Canelo, that is beyond great.
Crawford also stated that African Americans and Mexicans paired together make the biggest fights. He followed by contradicting himself, saying that he can fight Sebastian Fundora or Vergil Ortiz for pennies.
Cejudo / Kamaru and Crawford got into a conversation regarding fighter pay between the UFC and boxing. As a boxing community we should not brag about fighter pay when in terms of matchups/competition between boxers, we are not in a good position.
With respect to Canelo’s recent comments on Benavidez, the truth of the matter is that Benavidez is no longer in the division since Canelo ducked him. We should move on as the fight is not happening. Sure, Canelo can do what he wants but ultimately, at the end, fans will judge your career as a whole. We cannot take away anything from Canelo’s career, but it’s about how much Canelo can add to his career.
