Porter Drops Bomb on Crawford’s Resume

In a recent YouTube video of The Porter Way Podcast, Shawn Porter revealed that he was not the same fighter in his fight against Terence Crawford compared to his fight against Errol Spence. With Porter saying this, does that take away from Crawford’s victory against Porter?

As boxing analysts, we must consider all possible variables and data in order to make a more complete fight analysis. Of course, it is not Crawford’s problem that Porter apparently was not as ready when he fought him, but this information revealed by Porter brings more context to the situation.

ShowBizz’ take: Physicality is going to determine the fight winner. Errol’s defense has to be great to not allow Crawford to hit him with clean punches. Whoever can physically withstand the other’s offense will be the victor. Based on Spence’s media workout that took place yesterday, and his defensive responsibility shown, he is ShowBizz’ pick. The beauty of the fight is the duality of Crawford’s gifts/instincts and Spence’s cerebral approach.

Regarding the ShowBizz polls:

  • 70% of people believe Spence has more endurance.

  • 79% of people believe Spence is stronger.

  • 74% of people believe Crawford has better footwork.

  • 76% of people believe Crawford has better handspeed.

  • 80% of people believe Spence has a better resume.

  • 62% of people believe Spence has more will to win.

  • 63% of people believe Crawford has better boxing skills.

  • 81% of people believe Spence has a better chin.

  • 71% of people believe Spence is the harder puncher.

Based on these polls, Crawford must dictate the geography of the fight and knock out Spence early. Spence should have the advantage in the later stages of the fight.
