Is Canelo Ducking? Ryan Garcia vs. De La Hoya

This week news arrived that David Benavidez’ promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, has sent an offer to Canelo’s team (Eddy Reynoso) for a fight between Canelo and David Benavidez.

ShowBizz’ Take:

  1. If Canelo does not accept the fight with Benavidez, it’s a duck.

  2. If Canelo fights Bivol instead of Benavidez, it’s a huge disappointment because Canelo does not deserve a rematch and it’s Canelo’s duty as a champion to fight Benavidez.

  3. The boxing fans, based on a ShowBizz poll, want Canelo to fight David Benavidez.

  4. Canelo is not risking much fighting Bivol compared to fighting Benavidez.

  5. If Canelo fights Benavidez for undisputed, he will silence his critics.

Ryan Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya had a dispute on Twitter regarding De La Hoya’s promoting decisions for Garcia. After his fight against Tank, Garcia is not pleased with the lack of support De La Hoya has shown.

ShowBizz’ Take:

  1. Ryan is not disappointed at De La Hoya for his loss against Tank but because of the lack of support De La Hoya has shown.

  2. Ryan does not want to be seen as a circus act so, unlike De La Hoya, he is not interested in a Pacquiao fight.

On other news, Antonio Tarver has stated that he has not seen Spence show different boxing skills unlike what he has seen Terence Crawford do in the boxing ring.

ShowBizz’ Take:

  1. Spence should not fight differently against Crawford.

  2. To elaborate, Hearns had shown more than Hagler but what Hagler brought to the table made him dominant. As a fighter you have to perfect your attributes.
