Spence Has No Power

Spence does indeed have bone-breaking power in his punches, but does he have power to make boxing business decisions? Given that a Spence vs. Thurman fight appears to be on the horizon, Errol Spence, the welterweight unified champion appears to not have the capability to fight the fights he desires (e.g. Crawford).

Although his potential matchup against Keith “One Time” Thurman at 154 lbs. is a better fight than the Crawford vs, Avanesyan fight, the point of this analysis is not Spence’s competition level. He is fighting good opposition given his resume at 147 lbs. coupled with having to overcome his car accident and recovery. The fact of the matter is that Spence’s team, led by Al. Haymon, appears to be in control of his career.

At the end of the day Spence is giving boxing fans good fights, but could this matter later affect his career? Or has it already negatively affected him with the failing of making the fight against Terence Crawford?
